Africa at the Autonomous University of Madrid
In its aim to spread the knowledge about sub-Saharan Africa, the GEA has worked with the Library of the UAM to include in its catalogue African cinema. The purpose of these resources is to provide a teaching and learning support, and to bring closer the African reality through its cinematography, expression and reflection of African of its sensitivity.
By “African cinema” we mean the cinema produced since the African independences of the 60s, by African filmmakers. The complexity of the political and economic circumstances has complicated its production, and has hindered its dissemination and display in European cinemas and, more specifically, in the Spanish screens. We find, therefore, particularly important to facilitate the access to this material.
