Biography
MA International Relations and African Studies, Autonoma University of Madrid; MA International Solidarity Action in Europe, Carlos III University of Madrid; Bachelor in Economics, Nova School of Business and Economics, Lisbon.
Raquel Ferrão is a doctoral candidate at the International Relations and African Studies PhD programme. She’s currently finishing her dissertation on the topic of individual participation in armed rebellion, in which she analyzes the UNITA rebellion case-study during the Angolan civil war.
She was visiting researcher at the Nordic Africa Institute (Sweden) and visiting student at the School of Oriental and African Studies (UK). She has done research and published in the fields of conflict analysis theory, the use of sanctions in armed conflict situations, social suffering and participation in violence. She has fieldwork experience in Angola.
