Teaching activities constitute one of our main working areas. Our researchers participate in several graduate and postgraduate courses; we have a Doctoral Program, two yearly programs, and we organize specific courses.<\/p>\n

The Master program in International Relations and African Studies<\/a> began in the academic year of 2000\/2001 and has been transformed into an Official Master program for the year 2006\/2007. It is based at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid.<\/p>\n

During the past ten years, this Master has been one of the most popular of the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, with an average of 30 students in each edition. It is one of the best Masters in its specialty: International Relations and African Studies, offering a unique program on these two highly demanded areas of specialization. In 2014 it was ranked <\/strong>as the third best Master in International Relations in Spain<\/strong> according to the annual ranking published by the newspaper El Mundo<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Master offers students two possible itineraries: academic research and continuation into a PhD program; or professional insertion, through an internship in public or private institutions (among others: Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y Cooperaci\u00f3n, Agencia Espa\u00f1ola de Cooperaci\u00f3n Internacional para el Desarrollo, ACNUR: Alto Comisionado de la ONU para los Refugiados, Save the Children, M\u00e9dicos sin Fronteras, Interm\u00f3n Oxfam, Amnist\u00eda Internacional, Comisi\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Ayuda a los Refugiados).<\/p>\n

The Master has obtained the Quality Mention (a special recognition issued by the Ministerio de Educaci\u00f3n y Cultura to high level postgraduate programs) for several years, and counts among its lecturers with several professors coming from different countries thanks to the special funds offered by this Ministry.<\/p>\n

In 1999 we celebrated the first edition of the Introductory Course to the African Reality. Since 2004 the course is hosted by La Casa Encendida. The CIRA is one of the few specialized courses about African studies in Spanish language taking place every year. It has a duration of 90 hours, and is designed to introduce students from all backgrounds to the history of Sub-Saharan Africa, its political evolution on local, state and international levels, taking into consideration its economic situation and socio-anthropological reality. The professors participating in the course are among the best Africanist researchers in Spain. Through all its different editions, the CIRA has trained more than 500 students: development and humanitarian aid professionals, civil servants and undergraduate and graduate students from Europe, Africa and South America.<\/p>\n

La docencia constituye uno de los principales \u00e1mbitos de trabajo del GEA. Nuestros integrantes participan en numerosos estudios de grado y posgrado, contamos con un programa de doctorado, y realizamos anualmente dos proyectos fundamentales, a los que se suman cursos que realizamos de forma puntual.<\/p>\r\n<\/i> M\u00c1STER DE RELACIONES INTERNACIONALES Y ESTUDIOS AFRICANOS<\/strong><\/a>\r\n

Por un lado, el Master\/Doctorado en Relaciones Internacionales y Estudios Africanos, <\/a>en vigor desde el curso 2006-2007 y heredero de un Doctorado con Menci\u00f3n de Calidad en \u201cRelaciones Internacionales y Estudios africanos\u201d que ve\u00eda imparti\u00e9ndose desde 2000\/2001. Se trata de un Master que, a\u00f1o tras a\u00f1o, recibe uno de los primeros puestos del ranking de estudios de posgrado en RRII y EEAA del peri\u00f3dico El Mundo<\/em> y que tiene una gran acogida por parte de los estudiantes (con un n\u00famero muy elevado anualmente de solicitudes y valoraciones muy positivas). El M\u00e1ster cubre la creciente demanda de conocimiento sobre los procesos internacionales y transnacionales y ofrecer a futuros investigadores y profesionales de la diplomacia, los organismos internacionales y la cooperaci\u00f3n al desarrollo una formaci\u00f3n de calidad que combine el estudio de las relaciones internacionales con los estudios de \u00e1rea centrados en \u00c1frica Subsahariana. Durante los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, ha salido calificado como unos de los mejores M\u00e1ster de Relaciones Internacionales de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/i> CURSO DE INTRODUCCI\u00d3N A LA REALIDAD AFRICANA<\/strong><\/a>\r\n

Desde el a\u00f1o 1999 el GEA ha venido organizando cada a\u00f1o el Curso de Introducci\u00f3n a la Realidad Africana<\/strong> (CIRA). Este curso tiene por objetivo ofrecer una formaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica sobre las realidades del continente africano, y particularmente del \u00c1frica subsahariana a todas aquellas personas interesadas en este tem\u00e1tica. El curso, que en la actualidad tiene 90 horas de duraci\u00f3n, cubre diversos temas ligados a la historia, la pol\u00edtica y las relaciones internacionales, la econom\u00eda, la antropolog\u00eda y las sociedades africanas. Desde 2004, el curso ha contado con el respaldo econ\u00f3mico de La Casa Encendida, y se imparte en sus instalaciones.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n
