The African Studies Group deeply regrets the loss the last 14^th of July 2016 of our colleague Jose Carlos Gutiérrez Sendín.

We did not just lost a wonderful person, but a significant researcher for African studies in Spain. We will miss him, and we will keep him present in our memories and through his several publications. He did a wonderful job challenging and transforming the media coverage of the African continent.

We send all our love and support to his family to cope with their loss.
